Green Team

Peace & Justice

The Peace & Justice Team facilitates accessible opportunities that invite people to participate in educational programs, relationship building, and public witness. The group engages with issues that reflect the Biblical calls to love our neighbor, care for marginalized communities, welcome immigrants, and live into a world of equity and abundance for all without violence. Folks interested in peace and Justice work gather on a monthly basis to plan events, distribute resources, and provide equitable avenues for participation in community actions.

Social Services

The Social Service Ministry Team assists local organizations to address the needs of our local community’s residents. Currently, we are primarily involved with the Community Hive (formerly Ephrata Area Social Services) and Ephrata Builders of Hope (formerly Homes of Hope).

Community Meals

The Community Meals in Ephrata are an effort by the area churches to provide an evening homecooked style dinner on Thursday nights. The meals are held in one of three downtown churches for easy access. The intention is to provide a moment of social contact and nutritious food for anyone in the community who needs or wants one. Akron Mennonite Churches has been providing three of these meals a year.

AMC/DSECC Engagement Team

The Engagement Team fosters interaction between our congregation and Diamond Street Early Childhood Center (DSECC). As a team of six or seven persons from the congregation, we look to build connections to this ministry which is active in our building Monday through Friday.

We offer our gifts of time and talent to nurture Diamond Street children, teachers and staff. Activities include hosting special events for children and teachers, inviting the congregation to share interests with  summer campers and planning several Sunday morning worship services each year to highlight the work of Diamond Street and recognize teachers and staff. Several members of this team also serve on the Diamond Street Early Childhood Center’s Board of Directors.
